Reno is an asshole, who earned his living doing dirty work for even bigger assholes. Not to mention that tiny detail he had recently became responsible for the death of a large number (we're speaking in thousands) innocent civilians, and is doing his damn best to not think about it. Additionally, his canon itself contains themes like human-experimentation and bioengineering, exploitive, warmongering corporation nearly succeeding being in charge of everything, huge inequalities between citizens.
